A unique gift of faith for strength and hope

This beautifully delicate sterling silver scallop shell is handcrafted in Santiago, northern Spain - and contains a tiny pearl. The 1,000-year-old pilgrimage to the shrine of St. James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is known as the Way of St. James (El Camino de Santiago - in Spanish) - and the scallop shell is its symbol. Some 200,000 pilgrims travel to the city each year from all over the world to find inspiration and/or deeper spiritual understanding. Many carry with them a scallop shell symbol like this - believed to promote strength and hope.
