The 1,000-year-old pilgrimage to the shrine of St. James in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is known as the Way of St. James (El Camino de Santiago - in Spanish). Many carry with them a scallop shell like this - believed to promote strength and hope.

Description: The bracelet consists of three big bold sterling silver symbolic scallop shells on a strap of the softest black suede leather. Bracelet measures approx 18.5cms (7.25") in length with 4cm extender and closes with sterling silver bolt ring. Centre scallop shell measures 2cms across. Handcrafted in Galicia, northern Spain.

The Way of St. James criss-crosses Western Europe, arriving at Santiago through Northern Spain. It is generally regarded as a journey of the body, mind and spirit.
